Generate unique, available-sounding usernames — word-based or random.
Bulk generate
It creates usernames in two formats. The word format joins an adjective, an animal and a number, such as SwiftFalcon42; the random format is a string of 6, 9 or 13 lowercase letters and digits with look-alike characters (l, o, 0, 1) left out. You can generate 10 to 100 at once to build a shortlist. Nothing is sent anywhere, so the tool cannot see which names are already taken.
A generated handle is most useful when the name should not point back to you.
Choose a format
Word format for a readable handle; random format for one that says nothing about you.

Choose the length
Check the platform's limit first — X allows at most 15 characters, so pick short or medium there.

Generate a batch
Create 10 or 25 at once and copy the few you like into a shortlist.

Say it out loud
Keep the one you could spell for someone over the phone without repeating it.

Check it is free, then claim it
Search for it on each platform you care about and register it the same day.

Each service sets its own limits, and a name that works on one may be rejected on another.
A handle is public and searchable, so a reused one lets anyone connect your accounts across sites. The EFF suggests running your usernames through a username search engine to see where they are registered.
Platform limits are quoted from the X and Discord help centres as of September 2026 and may change. The entropy of random-format usernames is calculated from the tool's 32-character alphabet.
How do I choose a good username?
Pick something short enough for the platform's limit, easy to spell after hearing it once, and free of personal details. Avoid characters that look alike, such as lowercase l and the digit 1, because people searching for you will mistype them. Generating a batch and saying the candidates aloud is a quick way to find one that works.
Should I use my real name as my username?
Only when the account is meant to be publicly tied to you, such as a professional profile. Elsewhere, a handle containing your name links every post to your identity, and adding a birth year gives away a detail often used to verify who you are. A generated handle avoids both.
Is it bad to use the same username for everything?
It is convenient, but it lets anyone search that one handle and assemble your activity across every platform where it appears. Privacy guides such as the EFF's recommend checking where your usernames are registered for exactly this reason. Use the same handle only for accounts you are happy to have linked, and a different one for everything else.
How long can a username be on X or Discord?
On X a username can be at most 15 characters, using letters, digits and underscores. On Discord it must be 2 to 32 characters, is always lower case, and may contain only underscores and periods as symbols, never two periods in a row. Other platforms set their own limits, so check their help pages.
Can I use these usernames for Discord, gaming or Instagram?
Yes — both formats use only letters and digits, which every major platform accepts. Discord converts names to lower case automatically, and on X you should choose the short or medium length because long word-format names can exceed 15 characters. Check each platform's own rules for anything else.
Is a random username more secure?
It is harder to guess and cannot be linked to you: a 13-character random-format name has about 65 bits of entropy. OWASP recommends random user IDs in applications for the same reason, since predictable IDs are easier to target. A username is not a secret, though, so the account's security still depends on a strong password and two-factor authentication.
Does the generator check whether a username is taken?
No. Checking would mean sending each name to every platform, and this tool deliberately sends nothing over the internet. Search the shortlisted names on the platforms you care about before committing.
Is anything I generate sent anywhere?
No. Every username is assembled in your browser and never transmitted or logged. The short history of recent names disappears when you close or reload the tab.
